Obituary for Christa B. Turner
Christa Böhme Turner was born in Neundorf, Germany on July 24th 1939, to the late Irmgard Hartkopf and Werner Bӧhme. She took her last breath on Friday, January 28th, 2011. She migrated throughout Germany, eventually settling in West Germany with her family after World War II. In July 1970 she met Sgt. John Edward Turner while he was on leave from the US Army, in Neubrücke, Germany. They were married in November 1973 and moved to Coeburn, VA in December of 1975. She always carried the landscape of Germany in her heart.
Christa was proud of her German heritage and very fond of her family, especially her grandchildren, and showed them much love and devotion.
Christa leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, John Edward Turner from Amelia Court House, VA; one son: Kenneth A. Turner (Gwendolyn) from Upper Marlboro, MD; three daughters: Elke Beier from Wermelskirchen,Germany, Anke Campbell (Milton) from Hyattsville, MD, Jeanette (Gigi) Eliane Turner (Jacob) from Radford, VA. Her grandchildren: Silke Beier; Monique, Matthew, Mariah and Makayla Campbell; Daniel Turner, Bianca and Julian Meade and Kalob Bondurant: two brothers: Lutz Berger (Birgit), from Wermelskirchen, Germany and Frank Hartkopf (Agnes) from Remshalden, Germany. Her many brothers and sister-in-laws; in addition, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Services will be held Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Michael W. Hawkes Funeral Home, Amelia with private burial.
