Obituary for Charlotte Wyatt
Charlotte Wyatt was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 24, 1949 to her birth mother, Geneva S. Wyatt and raised by her adoptive mother, Mary Alice Holman, adoptive grandparents, Mattie Virginia Gale Holman and Elijah Holman.
Charlotte was educated in the Nottoway County public school system and graduated from Luther H. Foster High School, Blackstone, Virginia in 1968. She also attended Southside Vocational School, Crewe Va., and City University of NY.
After graduation, Charlotte moved to Brooklyn, New York and continued to be with her adoptive family. Charlotte worked as a Dental Assistant until a tragic accident in 1997 caused her to stop working.
Charlotte became active with the church; always helping out, visiting the sick and participating in and supporting various activities. Due to the results of the accident, Charlotte became very involved with the seniors in her area. They were always on the go, traveling to Washington D.C., Pennsylvania and many other outings. Charlotte enjoyed helping people. She always said, “God kept me here for a reason.”
Charlotte was the ‘Connector’ of the family. She always made sure everybody stayed in contact. She would call each one of us, one by one and let us know who she had spoken to and how they were doing. If anyone of us was sick or not feeling well, once she got wind of it, you’d better believe she’d be there to lend a helping hand. If she couldn’t make it to where we were, she would call to check on us. If any of us weren’t getting along, she would always say: “You know Aunt Bessie would want us to stick together.” She called us “Aunt Bessie’s Girls.”
Charlotte was preceded in death by her birth family: mother, Geneva Wyatt, twin sister Celeste Wyatt, brothers Leroy Smith, Jr., Charles Rollins and Edward McClinton; her adoptive family: mother, Mary Alice Holman, grandmother, Mattie Gale Holman, grandfather, Elijah Holman, aunts, Louise Holman and Bessie Hawkes Holman, cousins, Mattie Holman France and Lunette Holman (Donnie Williams).
Charlotte leaves to cherish loving memories: her son, Eric Wyatt, granddaughter, Erica, grandsons Za’mi, twins Justin, Julian and Aaron; Sister-cousins, Jerry Williams, Laura Holman, cousins Saundra France (Thalia), Michael France, Miriam France, Theresa Mitchell (Kenroy), Tariq Williams (Star), Equality Holman (Stephanie), Ajaya Sparrock (Kevin), Sally Green (James); Her birth family: one sister Barbara Morrison, one brother Wilford Wyatt, aunts Laura Cargill, Weenie Smith and Tooshie Smith.
Charlotte will be missed tremendously by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives, friends and loved ones.
