Obituary for Charles G. Oliver
CHARLES GUSTAVAE OLIVER entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Blackstone, VA. He was born October 13, 1927 to the late Hodges and Florence Oliver. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mattie Oliver; his son, John Oliver and his daughter Leslie “Carolyn” Giles.
Charles professed his faith in Christ and joined the Cellar Creek Baptist Church. He was educated in Dinwiddie County Public Schools. He served in the United States Army. He was employed by Epes Transport, Inc. of Richmond, VA for many years until he retired!
He was married to Mattie Hawkes Oliver, there were the proud parents of four girls and two boys.
Charles was a faithful and dedicated member of Cellar Creek Baptist Church. He attended services regularly until his health declined. He taught Sunday School for many years.  He was a member of the Men’s Ministry. Those who knew and love him will forever remember his quiet laughter and his kind smile.
He leaves to cherish his memories: three loving daughters, Rosa Bland of Crewe, VA, Teresa Vance (Jesse) of Blackstone, VA, and Marian Reavis (Stephen) of Blackstone, VA; a devoted son, Andrew Oliver Sr.; a special and caring sister, Annie Branch of Fort Washington, MD; a devoted nephew, Mark Branch of Fort Washington, MD; ten grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Services Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Cellar Creek Baptist Church, Blackstone with interment in the church cemetery.
