Obituary for Charles Alan Baughman
Mr. Charles Alan “AL” Baughman departed his earthly life on Monday, February 25, 2019 at his home on Broad Acres Rd. Blackstone, VA. AL was born August 18, 1951 in Parkersburg, WV to the late Jerry B. Baughman and the late Carol Ballard White.

AL was a 1969 graduate of Parkersburg High School. He served in the US Navy from September 1973 to August 1979, where he received his Military Occupational Specialty in Electronics and communications at the Great Lakes Naval Station. He was stationed at Stockton and San Diego, CA, and Norfolk, VA where served overseas on the destroyer U.S.S. Radford 1976-1978. AL was honorably discharged after sic years of service as Petty Officer First Class.

AL’s career varied form working in electronics to managing people. He worked with international companies in the DC area and mentored many men and women from various countries. His style was always marked by encouraging and teaching. After working for many larger companies, he started and maintained a government contracting small business in Frederick, MD. Regardless of his title, he was always there to lend a helping hand to co-workers.

Al’s most loved hobbies included coaching girls basketball, where he instilled into young women’s lives, how to compete in athletics. His other pastime was hunting in the Adirondack Mountains in NY. He enjoyed the beautiful scenery and spending time with his old friends once a year. Other hobbies included his love of “GO GO” music (Chuck Brown)

Al is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Harris Baughman; his step-mother, Mrs. Margaret Baughman of Parkersburg, WV; three daughters, Kelly (Sammy) Caraballoso of New York, NY, Carol Ambush of Silver Springs, MD and Teresa Ambush of Frederick, MD; two sons, Jeremy (Katie) Baughman of Westminster, MD and Antoine Jackson (Tamara) of Petersburg, VA; two sisters, Janet (Nick) Kratsas of Parkersburg, WV and Diana White (Clark) of Hopewell, PA; one brother, Steven (Larraine) Baughman of Washington, WV; grandchildren, Olivia and Victoria Caraballoso, Tynshia Dotson, Amber Newman, Nykeia Thompson, Isaih Thompson, Nija Sampson, Major, Shamare’ and Christian Jackson; one sister-in-law, Latanya H. Jordan (Darryl) of Petersburg, VA; one brother-in-law, Larry Harris of Blackstone, VA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.



Visitation: W.E. Hawkes & Son F.H., Monday, March 4, 2019, 11am - 7pm
Funeral Service: Shiloh Baptist Church, Blackstone, Tuesday March 5, 2019 at 12 noon
Burial: Veterans Cemetery in Amelia
