Obituary for Celeste D. Jackson

Celeste D. Jackson departed this life on May 7, 2025. She was born on July 2, 1964 in Yonkers, NY to Martha and the late John H. Jackson, Sr. She was educated in the Yonkers Public School System.

Celeste worked as a Home Health Aide, Child Care provider and she worked for the Board of Election for many years.

At an early age Celeste accepted Christ and was baptized at Community Baptist Church. Celeste had a passion for people; she enjoyed entertaining, cooking and playing cards. She loved celebrating life.

Celeste was preceded in death by her father John Jackson, Sr.; brother John Jackson, Jr.; and sister Terrie D. Jackson.

Celeste leaves to cherish her memory: her loving mother, Martha A. Jackson; two daughters, Lakeya and Terrie Cardwell of Yonkers, NY; three grandchildren, Ja’Keem Patrick, Keyonni and Layla Shinette, all of Yonkers, NY; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends from New York to Virginia. She also leaves to cherish her memory: her children’s father, Leon Cardwell who stuck by her side until the end. One uncle, Freddy Scott of Yonkers; two aunts, Delores Craig and Joyce Barksdale both of Virginia.
