Obituary for Cecil Henry Belle
CECIL HENRY BELLE, son of the late Charlie and Ethel Belle was born January 19, 1933 in Crewe, VA. He was one of nine children. He was known to most as “Belle”; however, he was lovingly known as “Pop or Papa” to his immediate family. After a valiant fight, he departed this life on Thursday, June 5, 2008 at his home in Crewe, VA.
Cecil was educated in the public school system of Nottoway County and spent thirty-three years working for the railroad until he retired in 1987.
Cecil was a spiritual man who loved fishing, listening to the “oldies”, the ladies of course but more importantly, his family. His grandchildren gave him great pleasure.
Cecil will be remembered for his sense of humor, magnetic personality, love for life and infectious smile.
His grandson, Damian; sister, Rosa Marie; and brother, Robert preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memory: two children, Russell and Jacqueline; two grandchildren, Ryan and Jessica; one great granddaughter, Ja’Nyla; two brothers, John Belle and Walter Belle of Crewe, VA; four sisters, Lucille Jackson of Dallas, TX, Alice Morgan of Hopewell, VA, Edith “Doretha” Furman of Petersburg, VA and Helen “Kat” Stith of Richmond, VA; one sister-in-law, Edna Mae Balle; nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Service will be held Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Fourth Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Crewe with interment in the Eanes Family Cemetery, Crewe.
W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home of Blackstone in charge of the arrangements.
