On Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at Bon Secours in Richmond, VA, God called Carrie Mae Washington (age 72) home. She was born June 14, 1948 to Mr. and Mrs. John and Isabella Fryar in Ivanhoe, NC. Carrie graduated from high school in 1967 and shortly after met the love of her life, James Washington. The two married in New Jersey in 1970 and Carrie became a homemaker. Creating a loving home for her husband and their two children Keith and Dawna filled Carrie with joy.
Preceding her in death was her loving husband of 37 years, James Washington; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Fryar; her sisters Lucy Roach and Bernice Hollingsworth; her brother John Jr.; step daughters Cheryl Washington and Shelia Scott; and her granddaughter Tiffany Scott.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her son Keith (Jamie) of Clayton, NC; daughter Dawna (Tyrell) of Amelia, VA; sister Minnie Pearl Devane of Ivanhoe, NC; step-sons Derek Washington of King and Queen, VA and Ronald Washington of NJ; grandsons Antonio Scott (Matasha) of Edison, NJ; Damon Scott of Richmond, VA; James Scott of Richmond, VA; Jermyane Washington of King and Queen, VA; Jemario Washington of King and Queen, VA; Zaiere Washington of Amelia, VA; Tyrell Jr. of Amelia, VA; and Bryce Washington of Clayton, NC; granddaughter Ashley Washington of NJ; and a host of great-grandchildren.
Viewing Monday, March 22, 2021 from 11:00 AM until time of service at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment private.
