Obituary for Carlton O. Clark, Sr.
Monday afternoon, July 7, 2014, Carlton O. Clark, Sr. fell asleep in death at Southside Regional Hospital in Petersburg, VA. He was born on March 5, 1940 to his late parents, Hurley Clark, Sr. and Dilsey Clark of Nottoway VA.
Mr. Clark worked for many years as a machinist for Norfolk and Western Railroad.
Having learned the guitar at the age of eight, he was a well-respected church musician who performed on the electric guitar and piano throughout Central Virginia. Although terminally ill, he continued to perform at Little Bethel Baptist Church in Amelia, VA, where he was dearly loved by the congregation.
Mr. Clark was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Clark; brother, Hurley Clark, Jr.; sisters, Alice Mae Jefferson and Adell Goodson; nephew, Casey Clark; and nieces, Jean Evans and Lunette Goodson.
Mr. Clark is survived by a sister, Lillie Mae (Robert Edmonds) of Blackstone, VA; sister-in-law, Patricia Clark; four sons, Rev. Carlton O. Clark, Jr., (Cheryl) of Blackstone, VA; Kevin Clark (Marie) of Virginia Beach, VA; Osborne Clark (Tareka White) of Sutherland, VA; Dr. Antoine Clark of Columbus, OH.; and two daughters, Charlotte Clark (Bruce Lambert) of Dinwiddie, VA; and Melinda Clark (David Jones) of Blackstone, VA. He is survived by ten grandchildren, Devin Clark, Samuel Clark, Dennis Clark, Demetria Wyatt, Katrina Jones, DeAnte Fogg, Kevin Clark, Jr., Tevin Clark, Devin Johnson Clark, Nadia Clark; four great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. Mr. Clark is also survived by his devoted friends, Mrs. Dora Walker and her family of Sutherland, VA, and Joyce Peace of Petersburg, VA.
