Carl Lewis Streat departed this life on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 in Hopewell, VA. Son of Rachel Streat Dove, he was born October 25, 1962 in Richmond, VA.
He received his education in the Prince Edward County School System and later attended the Abereen Maryland School of Culinary Arts. At an earl age he joined St. Matthews Lutheran Church. He later changed his faith to Baptist.
Carl met Sharon Gilcrest in the late 80’s and they were married January 2, 1998.
Carl worked as a chef for fourteen years at the Henrico County Juvenile Detention Center.Â
He was a member of King David Lodge #28 F&AM, PHA, Richmond, VA. His hobbies included cooking, joking, and watching Dallas Cowboys games.
Carl was preceded in death by his father Vernon Booker; grandparents, Ruth and Johnnie Streat, Sr., but leaves to cherish precious memories:Â his wife Sharon Streat of Blackstone, VA; two sons Carl L. Gilcrest of Blackstone and Micheal (Tiffnay) Gilcrest of Chesterfield; grandchildren, Micah Henry, Micheal Jr., Gabriel Gilrest and Camaya Gilcrest of Chesterfield, VA; his mother Rachel Streat Dove (Roger) of Farmville, VA; step-father James L. Davis of Meherrin, VA; brother Roger K. Streat of Richmond, VA; sister Erica M. Davis of Farmville, VA; sisters-in-law, Theresa Hines (John) of McKenney, VA and Miriam Gilcrest of Amelia, VA; nephew, Anthony Davis of Farmville, VA; nieces Morgan Streat of Chesterfield, VA and Aseelah Davis of Farmville, VA; special cousin, Roy L. Streat; a special aunt, Cleo Streat; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral Services for Mr. Streat will be held Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at 12:00 noon at Shiloh Dinwiddie Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
