Obituary for Cardray L. Crawley
Cardray Lafeyette Crawley was born May 23, 1944 in Blackstone, Virginia to Dorothy Mae Crawley Parker, daughter of Mr. Eddie and Lettie Crawley. He attended Nottoway Training School. At an early age he was baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church. After Cardray finished school he moved to Boston, Massachusetts and worked in his uncle Eddie’s restaurant for several years. He later left Boston and moved to New York where he was a musician. He played guitar in a band called The Soul Family. There he met and married Lydia, and lived in Brooklyn, New York until he died. He leaves to mourn: his wife, Lydia Crawley; one daughter, Tonya; two stepsons, Tracy and Edwin; one step daughter-in-law, Rochell; seven step grandchildren; one uncle, Charles Crawley; one aunt, Regina Crawley; four sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, many other relatives and dear friends. Viewing will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 13, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. from Shiloh Baptist Church, Blackstone with interment in the Greenview Cemetery, Blackstone.
