Obituary for Brenda B. Donovan
Brenda Joyce Benion Dovovan was born December 27, 1949, in Farmville Virginia, to the late Clarence and Lunette Cordollia Benion. She departed this life on October 24, 2024, at her home surrounded by family.
She was raised in New York and attended New York City Public Schools. Brenda earned her high school diploma from Central Commercial High School in New York City. Brenda adopted the Jehovah Witness faith in her twenties and was baptized.
Brenda met Vanburn Douglas Donovan while living in New York. After about 2 years of courtship, they were married on June 16, 1973. From this union four beautiful children were born.
In 1984 Brenda and her husband along with their four children moved to her husband’s home of St. Thomas, VI where she resided for two years before returning to Virginia with her husband and children to reside until she departed this life.
In her earlier years she worked as a Nurse Aide before she was injured in a terrible car accident in the 1980s. Brenda was a strong and kind-hearted person who always saw the good in others. She was just like her father; she never met a stranger. Brenda could carry on a conversation with anyone and was always willing to give advice, give words of encouragement along with offering a helping hand.
Brenda leaves to cherish her memories her devoted husband of 51 years Vanburn D. Donovan Sr., her oldest son Vanburn Donovan Jr. (She-Rhonda), her loving and only daughter Nalo Donovan (Robert), her twin sons Joel Donovan (Kyle) and Antoine Donovan; five grandchildren Shikirah, Marquell, Niya, Ariel and Richard; two great-grandchildren Eva and Sha’Ki; one loving and devoted sister Antoinette Benion (Steven) and one loving niece Nichole Benion; along with a host of relatives and friends.
