Bonita Newton Jones, age 71, of Amelia, Virginia departed this life on Tuesday, July 25, 2023. The Lord dispatched angels of mercy to the Bon Secours Hospice House in North Chesterfield, Virginia to escort her to a heavenly mansion. Bonnie (as affectionately known by most of her family) was born September 17, 1951 in Amelia, Virginia to Dorothy Monroe Sheff and the late Robert Lee Sheff Sr.
At an early age, Bonita accepted Christ and joined the Chester Grove Baptist Church. She was always willing to help serve food and clean when asked.
Bonita graduated from the Russell Grove High School in Amelia, Virginia. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Paige Arthur Jones on June 6, 1970. From this union, one child, Angela Jones Logan was born.
Bonita was very talented and excelled in a variety of fields. She received and maintained her certification as a licensed beautician and CNA. Her other occupations included a factory worker at the former GBC of Amelia, VA, and a teacher’s aide at the Amelia County Public School system. In her spare time, Bonita enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking, and spending time with family. Bonita was preceded in death by her husband, Paige Jones; father, Robert Sheff Sr.; brother, Don Monroe; sister, Dorsenia Sheff; and god son, Toney Holloway. She leaves to cherish fond memories, daughter, Angela Jones Logan of Powhatan, VA; one grandson, Darius Logan; one granddaughter, Salease Logan, and one great granddaughter, Skylar Logan. Mother, Dorothy Sheff of Amelia, VA; brothers, Bradford Sheff, Ronald Sheff (Phyllis), Robert Sheff Jr., Wallace Sheff, all of Amelia, and Dennis Monroe of Copperas Cove,TX. Sisters, Lavada Booker and Arlene Monroe of Amelia,VA; two aunts and an uncle, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She also leaves her longtime companion, Arthur Green; and best friend, Alfreda Robinson.
