Obituary for Betty Mae Roads
Betty Mae Roads, also known as “Rena” was a loving mother, grandmother and friend who passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 7, 2008 at her residence. She was born October 17, 1957 in Prince Edward County, daughter of the late Viola and Freddie Watson. Betty received her education in the Prince Edward County Public School System. She was preceded in death by her son James Watson. She is survived by her husband James Roads; daughter, Natasha Roads; sons, Allen Roads (Judith) and Tyrone Roads; aunt, Cora Watson (Leroy); sister-in-law, Hazel Hicks (Melvin); sisters, Carolyn Watson, Virginia Shaw (Robert), and Brenda Watson; brothers, Ricky Watson, Ronnie Watson (Jenny), Fred Watson, Jr., and Alvin Eppes; grandchildren, LaQueenia Roads, Tylius Watson, Aaliyah Watson, Shaliyah Steverson and James Nickens; to step grandchildren, Ebony Hayward and Nyasia Lilly; step grandmother, Rosa Eppes; devoted daughter, Rachel Lilly; devoted friends, Gertie Nicholas and Tina Rollins; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 14, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. from Hawkes Funeral Home Chapel, Blackstone with interment in the Greenview Cemetery, Blackstone.Michael W.  Hawkes Funeral Home of Amelia in charge of the arrangements.
