On Sunday morning, March 27, 2011 BETTY B. POMPHAY was called from labor to reward. She was born June 8, 1924 to Marcullius Brown and Nannie Lue Johnson Brown, they both preceded her in death
She attend Amelia County public school. She resided in Richmond, VA where she was a member of Rising Mount Zion Baptist Church of Henrico, VA. Betty was a retired employee of MCV Hospital.
She was married to the late Willard Preston Smith of Amelia, they had five children, Dorothy, Juanita, Preston, John and Howard. Bettie later married Emory Pomphay, and they had two children, Emory and Veronica.
Betty leaves to cherish her memory: Dorothy Mae Conner and husband Ray, Preston Willard Smith Jr., John O. Smith, and Veronica Pomphay; devoted daughter-in-law, Caldonia Smith; two sisters, Clara Arrington and Lois B. Nickleson; nine grandchildren, Lolita Smith, Vickie Clay, Shenika Smith, Latisha Smith, Santranee Smith, Robert Barley, Kasan Wright, Neal Bailey and Tameka Pomphay; three great grandchildren; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 12 noon at Chester Grove Baptist Church, Amelia with interment in the church cemetery.
