Obituary for Bessie Mae Somerville
BESSIE MAE SOMERVILLE, daughter of the late Susie Olivia Jones and Mann Davis was born December 10, 1933 in Nottoway County. She departed this life on Monday, May 9, 2011 at her home in Blackstone, VA.
She attended Luther H. Foster School in Nottoway County. At an early age she became a member of Springhill Baptist Church.Bessie has worked as a store manager for Super Dollar in Lawrenceville, VA, Kings Supermarket in Blackstone, VA and as an assistant manager for Coastal Mart in Crewe, VA.
She loved doing house work and working in her yard, planting flowers. Bessie was a dedicated mother to her four children.
Bessie was preceded in death by her husband, James Somerville and two brothers, Morris Jones and Willie A. Jones (Bobby). She leaves to cherish her memory: three sons, Charles, Aaron and Michael Somerville, all of Blackstone, VA; one daughter, Michelle Somerville of Blackstone, VA; two grandchildren, Aaron Terry of New Jersey and Andrew Somerville of Henderson, NC; sisters-in-law, Emma L. Jones of Blackstone, Delores Ballard of Richmond, VA and Carrie Milton of Georgia; four brothers-in-law of Pensacola, FL; devoted first cousin, Maxine Jones of New Jersey; devoted nieces, Barbara Jones, Emma Jean Jones and Gertrude Jones, all of Blackstone, VA; devoted nephews, Larry Jones of Amelia, VA and Bernard Jones of Blackstone, VA; a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services were held Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Springhill Baptist Church, Blackstone with private burial.
