Obituary for Bernie Woodley
We pause to reflect and consider the work of Jesus Christ who in His divine wisdom and grace has called our Dear Brother, Uncle, Cousin and Devoted Friend to join Him in His Heavenly Garden.
On August 30, 1926, Bernie (Benny) was born in Amelia County, Virginia to the late Lubin and Mary Frances Brumskill Woodley.  He was educated in Amelia County Public Schools.
Bernie (Benny) was baptized at a very tender age and joined the Branches Runn Baptist Church where he was faithful and dedicated.
Benny, Uncle Benny, Ben, Ben as most of us called him loved working with his hands, gardening, cutting wood, small engine such as lawn mowers, blowers and many others, but most of all he was a gentle, kindhearted, loving person who loved the Lord, his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, James, Willie, Anthony and his sisters, Essie Hamlin, Mary Frances Williams, and Eleanor Brown.
He leaves to cherish a legacy of precious memories:  one sister, Annie Woodley Jackson of Ford, VA; three brothers, Frank (Rosa) of Amelia, Thomas (Patsy) of Blackstone, VA and Wade (Virginia) of Petersburg, VA.  He will always be remembered by a host of loving and devoted nieces, Beatrice (Sterling), Mary Ann, Mary Alice, Nettie (Jake), Rebecca (Richard), Patricia, Tina, Helen, Felicia, Gloria Jean (Arnold), Linda, Charlotte, Lillian Mae, Mae, and loving nephews, Jimme (Ernestine, Reverend Wade (Barbara), Frank (Juanita), Wilbur Lee (Deborah), Earl (Sandra), Chris, Thomas, Samuel (Carolyn), Benny, Rickie, Bobby, Bruce, Curtis and Lozena.  Uncle Benny was devoted to his great, great niece JaKayla and great, great nephew Jamare.  He cherished his extended family and friends who were dear to him and transported him wherever he wanted to go or just ride out.  They are Emmett Crayton, Alex Friend, Charles Friend (Lil Charles), Gilbert (Ora) Woodley, George (SonnyBoy) Friend, and many more.
Funeral Services willl be held Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 3:30 p.m. at Branches Runn Baptist Church, Amelia with interment in the church cemetery.
Michael W. Hawkes Funeral Home of Amelia in charge of arrangements.
