Obituary for Bernice R. Fowlkes
MRS. BERNICE ROBERTSON FOWLKES departed peacefully into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at her home in Crewe, Va. She was the daughter of the late Deacon Dennis and Lila Robertson.
Mrs. Fowlkes received the Lord Jesus Christ as her savior at an early age, and joined the Eleven Oaks Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend L. W. Bass.
Mrs. Fowlkes was united in holy matrimony to Mr. George Fowlkes, Jr. They were blessed in the union with one daughter, Mrs. Darlene Fowlkes-Baker.
Mrs. Fowlkes worked for Carbone of America, formally known as Stackpole & Components, with over 35 years of service until her retirement.
Mrs. Fowlkes leaves to cherish her memories her loving and devoted daughter, Mrs. Darlene Fowlkes-Baker (Wilford), and a very special and loving granddaughter, Onjala Baker, all of Crewe, Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Marion B. Giles of Baltimore, Md., and Mrs. Annie Brooks of Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers, Mr. Clarence Robertson of Burkeville, Va., and Mr. Frank Robertson (Judy) of Crewe, Va.; seven nieces, Margaret, Wanda, Lisa, Karen, Melissa, Cassandra, and Demetria; five nephews, Mitchell, Larry, Marcus, Mario, and Lamont; a host of great nieces, great nephews, and cousins; and other relatives and friend, several devoted friends, Mrs. Roselene Johnson, Mrs. Annie Bradshaw, Ms. Lydia Woodson, Mrs. Alberta Ford, and Mrs. Emma Hicks.
Funeral Services Monday, January 23, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Eleven Oaks Baptist Church, Crewe. Interment Crewe Cemetery.
