Obituary for Bernard Andrew Jones
Bernard Andrew Jones ‘Brute’, son of Emma L. Jones and the late Willie A. Jones (Bobby) was born August 12, 1962 in Nottoway County. He departed from this world on Friday, September 8, 2017 at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Bernard attended Nottoway public schools. At an early age, he became a member of Mt. Gazerine Baptist Church in Blackstone, VA.
Bernard worked at various places of employment: The Charcoal Company and Virginia Marble Company in Kenbridge, VA, the Town of Blackstone and Taylor-Ramsey Corporation of Blackstone, VA. Bernard was well known throughout the community and very friendly to those who came into his presence. He looked at everyone as being his cousin.
Bernard is preceded in death by his sister Barbara A. Jones of Blackstone, VA, but leaves to cherish his legacy: his mother Emma L. Jones; his fiancée Adrienne Lewis of Blackstone; his devoted daughter, Angela B. Chukwudebelu (Charles) of Richmond, VA; two sisters, Emma J. Jones (Jean) and Gertrude Jones (Trudy) of Blackstone, VA; one brother, Larry C. Jones Sr. of Amelia, VA; two devoted nieces, Atrinell Abbott (Nell) and Richelle Owens; one devoted nephew, Larry C, Jones Jr. (LJ); a devoted father figure, Eugene R. Thomas (Teddy Bear); two precious grandchildren, Chelsey and Christine Chukwudebelu; two loving cousins, Aaron Somerville and Harold Meritte (Bum Bosa); and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services Friday, September 15, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Gazerine Baptist Church, Blackstone. Interment private
