Obituary for Bazell Sr. Fitzgerald
BAZELL FITZGERALD, SR., the youngest of fourteen children, was born on May 16, 1931 in Nottoway County, Virginia to the late Henry and Mary Fitzgerald. He departed this life on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at Virginia Baptist Hospital in Lynchburg, Virginia.
Bazell attended school in Nottoway County, Virginia. Early in life he joined Mt. Gazerine Baptist Church.
Bazell was a heavy equipment operator and retired from Shoosmith Brothers in 1991. After retirement he enjoyed carpentry. His specialty was building picnic tables and decks; he also enjoyed fishing.
He was united in marriage to Katherine Delories Edmonds in 1952 and they were blessed with five children.
Those left to cherish his memories are his loving, caring and devoted wife Lois; three sons, Rodney (Arlene), Bazell Jr. (Josette) and Jerome; two daughters, Teresa and Patricia (Ronald); sixteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Elsie Maddox; three brothers-in-law, Eddie Edmonds (Christine), Roy Blackwell and Tom Sam Rhoades; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Services Sunday, September 30, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Mt. Gazerine Baptist Church, Blackstone with interment in the church cemetery.
