Obituary for Barry R. Archer
On Mach 17, 2021, in the early morning hours at Chippenham Hospital, Richmond, Virginia God dispatched his heavenly angels to tell Barry Rendell Archer to turn in his Superman cape in exchange for his angel wings.
He was born July 18, 1968 to James and the late Mary Ann Archer. He was the first of four children.
Barry was educated in Amelia County Public Schools in Amelia, Virginia. He graduated from Amelia County High School in June of 1986, he also attended Virginia Union University and Liberty University.
He held quite a few jobs but his passion was cutting hair. He worked at several barber shops, two in particular were Lighting Cuts and Dream Team Barbershop with his cousin Donnell. Barry joined and was baptized at Promise Land Baptist Church at an early age, he later joined Mt. Olive Baptist where he remained a member until his health began to decline. Barry was a very intelligent man. He was very well versed in the bible and he was “the best” at playing Scrabble. His favorite pastime was fishing with the family. Barry was a very proud Washington Football Team fan.
Barry was proceeded in death by his mother, Mary Ann Nancy Archer, an infant sister and his paternal and fraternal grandparents. He is survived by his father, James “Boo” Archer; his loving and devoted wife, Tertia L. Archer; children, Brianna and Ayanna Archer, Aniya Wilui, Brianna Guy, Mondrell Smith, Sr. (Ashley) and his fur baby Candy; two grandchildren, Dre and Ashton Smith (who affectionately call him “Papa Duck”); one sister, Tammy Archer; one brother, Shaun Archer (Charlene); sister in law, Tamieka Twitty; father and mother in law, William and Constant Lewis; one niece, Jazamine Archer; one nephew, SaVar Twitty; four aunts; Bernice Williams, Pearl Epps, Evelyn Ruffin (Andre) one devoted Joan Owens (Ike); a host of cousins, devoted Tracy Hockaday and Donnell Owens; a host of other relatives and friends, devoted Lloyd Williams.
