Obituary for Barbara L. Sampson
Barbara died peacefully on Monday, July 22, 2013 in her home in Blackstone, VA after battling a series of health issues and treatments.
Born July 16, 1952 in Pine Bluff, AR, Barbara lived 61 years.  In that time, she raised four children (three boys and one girl), worked as a nurse's aide for years, and made a big influence in the lives of others through her amazing gift of song.  It is that gift of song that Barbara will be remembered for the most.  She sung her first solo at the age of three years old and continued ministering in song in churches and for others until she could no longer do so.  Her voice stamped a memory in the hearts of all she ministered to throughout the years; she will always be remembered.
Barbara leaves behind her four children (and their spouses):  Leonard Sampson (Mia), Matthew Sampson, Sr. (LaSandra), Charlotte Parker (Ahmal, Sr.) and Joshua Sampson; six grandchildren, Matthew Sampson, Jr., Malachi Sampson, Caleb Sampson, Makayla Parker, Mya Sampson, and Ahmal Parker, Jr.; and a host of loved ones, extended family and friends.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Barbara L. Sampson of Blackstone will be held Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Spirit of Life Christian Church, Blackstone with interment in the Greenview Cemetery, Blackstone.
W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home of Blackstone in charge of arrangements.
