Obituary for Barbara A. Miller
God called her name so softly,
that no one else could hear,
and no one heard the footsteps
of the Angels drawing near.
On Tuesday morning, October 11, 2022, Barbara Ann Miller unfolded the last chapter of her book of life at her home in Burkeville, VA.
Barbara was born on November 2, 1935 to Lucille B. Moore in Burlington, NC.
Barbara was educated in the North Carolina School System before moving to New York where she worked for the city of New York with twenty-five years of service.
Barbara met and married the love of her life James Miller on June 19, 1954 and to this union they were blessed with five children plus three bonus children, Harvey, Roger and Deborah.
She moved to Virginia, the hometown of her husband in 1992 and became a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, where she served on the Usher Board, and in 2009 she became a Deaconess.
Barbara is preceded in death by her mother, Lucille B. Moore; one daughter, Renee; and one son, Roger.
Barbara leaves to cherish her memories: her devoted husband of sixty-eight years, James Miller; four daughters, Linda, Pamela, Almeta and Deborah; two sons, Tyrone and Harvey (Sandra); god children, David and Mable Dodson; one brother-in-law, Mallory; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
Viewing Thursday, October20, 2022 from 12 to 7PM. Funeral Service Friday, October 21, 2022 at Macedonia Baptist Church, Burkeville. Interment Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia.
