Obituary for Ashley B. Smith
We bow in humble submission to His will, our righteous and loving Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, knowing that His will must be done. Ashley Brittney Smith departed this life on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at MCV, Richmond, VA. Ashley B. Smith formally of Washington DC was born July 11, 1989 to Darrell Smith Sr. and Christine Young Smith. The family moved to Nottoway County in 1991.
Ashley affectionately known as “Ash Pot” showed her sportsmanship in softball, basketball, and track to include the shotput and discus. She was very domineering on the courts making it very difficult for the boys to play her as a “girl”. It was in high school where she met Joseph Jefferson, Jr. and in their courtship a handsome blessing from God was created, Master Kaden T. Smith, affectionately known as “Pooh”.
Ashley attended and graduated from Nottoway High School, Nottoway, VA, Class of 2007.
She was in an intern program with VCBR, Burkeville, VA and later was hired as a full time employee. She was currently employed with Beaumont Juvenile Correctional Center, Beaumont, VA.
Ashley accepted Christ at an early age. Her foundation was established at Lion of Judah Ministry and Training Center in Blackstone, VA. On May 8, 2011, Ashley joined Spring Hill Baptist Church in Blackstone, VA through Christian experience under the leadership of Reverend Travis LC Warren. She shared an awesome experience with Kaden by being baptized a second time with him. Ashley was an active member and served her Saviour until her sudden departure. She was a faithful member of the SHBC Praise Choir and the Youth Choir where she enjoyed giving praise unto Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Ashley is predeceased by her maternal grandmother, Marcella Young.
Ashley leaves to cherish her pride and joy, her son Kaden T. Smith; her loving and devoted parents, Christine and Darrell Smith, Sr.; two sisters Heaven and Victoria Smith; two brothers Darrell Jr. and Daniel Smith; a god sister Kayla Sessoms, and a god brother Kayanis Sessoms, all of Crewe, VA. Also left with fond memories is her paternal grandmother, Francis Smith Pennix of Amelia, VA and a host of aunts, uncles, relatives and friends that loved her dearly in a special way including a special childhood friend to the end, Ms. Nikki Rather of Crewe, VA.
She will be sorrowfully and joyfully missed and never forgotten. She was proof that God is love.
