Obituary for Arnetha S. Doswell
Arnetha Sylvia Stewart Doswell, daughter of Bessie Miller Stewart and Roosevelt Stewart was born on February 24th, 1927 in Harlem, New York. God called her into his loving arms on Monday December 23rd, 2013 while she rested comfortably in the loving care of the Kozy House Assisted Living home in Baltimore MD. Arnetha moved to Blackstone, VA at a young age where she was under the care of her grandmother Mrs. Pattie Miller. Arnetha received her early education in the Nottoway County school system. She was baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church where she became a member.
At the age of eleven Arnetha moved back to New York to be with her mother. She attended public school in New York where she graduated from high school and went on to attend beautician school.
Arnetha worked as a sales clerk for Saks Fifth Avenue and later after she raised her children she was employed by the New York Telephone Company first as an operator and ended her career as an executive assistant.
During her time in New York she met and married the “love of her life” Morgan Doswell. To this union two children were born, Beverly Ann Doswell Marshall and Barry Morgan Doswell.
After her retirement she and her husband moved back to Blackstone, VA where she reunited with her church Shiloh Baptist, there she became an active member. Later she followed her husband and joined his church at New Prospect Baptist Church where they both played active roles. Their loving and caring marriage lasted fifty eight years until her husband when on to his reward.
Things that Arnetha loved the most were being with her family just to laugh, eat and fellowship with each other.
