Obituary for Antoinette Renae Fowlkes-Miller
Antoinette “Renae” Fowlkes Miller was born February 18, 1968 in Richmond Virginia to James Acie and Doris Jennings  Fowlkes.  She departed this life on Monday, September 16, 2013 in Burkeville, Virginia.
She graduated from Nottoway High School in Nottoway, Virginia in 1986. After high school she attended and graduated from Commonwealth College, in Richmond, Virginia in 1988.   She was a member of First Nottoway Baptist Church.
Antoinette was an Operations Manager at Sussex I State Prison for the past 3 years and had been employed with the Department of Corrections for 17 years. She was a devoted employee with extremely high expectations of herself.   She enjoyed her work and took pride in all positions she held.   Affectionately called “Renae”, “Toni” and “C” (Jimmy), she enjoyed reading, watching crime TV and spending time with her family.    Loved deeply by her children, brother, sisters, parents, nieces and nephews, Renae always kept family close to her heart.
Renae will be remembered for her no nonsense attitude and big heart.  She would do anything for and deeply cared about those that were within her inner circle. She leaves to cherish her memories and embody her spirit: a loving daughter, Brea Miller; a devoted son, Marcus Miller; two loving parents, Doris and James Fowlkes Jr.; a grandmother, Doretha Epps;  a brother, James Fowlkes III (Delphine); two sisters, Ty Keshae Fowlkes Tucker (Kevin) and Angelyn Fowlkes; four nephews, Christopher Tucker, Geordan Ghee, James Fowlkes IV and John Fowlkes; two nieces,  Makiya Fowlkes and Jada Tucker; four uncles, Horace, Russell (Ann) and Edward (Helen) Jennings and Morese Woodrum; three aunts Edith Williams, Hattie Fowlkes and Velma Jennings; her best boy in the whole wide world, Jay’veon Jordan; her high school sweetheart and ex-husband, Howard Miller;  a special family and personal friend, Angela Edmonds; her current special friend; and a host of cousins, close personal and family friends.
Renae was a very loving person who worked hard to provide for her two beautiful children and support them in their endeavors.     She will live forever in our hearts and we will cherish the great times spent together.  She will be missed and never forgotten.
