Obituary for Annie Marie Bell
Annie Marie Bell returned to her heavenly home on Monday, June 18, 2018. She was born to the late Rev. Thurman O. Person, Sr. and Mary Morgan Person, of Crewe, VA on June 16, 1938.
She was raised and educated in Nottoway County. Annie left for New York City at an early age and became a successful entrepreneur owning a Taxi service (Flyer), Take-out Restaurant (Annie’s), candy store and she also became a licensed beautician. She moved to Maryland and attended Long Reach Church of God in Columbia, MD and was employed by the Howard County Public School System.
While in Maryland, she met the love of her life and married Fletcher E. Bell. After retirement, Annie moved back home to Crewe with Fletcher in tow. She loved traveling and visiting her family in Maryland. Annie was happiest sitting on her porch, building her garden and playing with Jenny. She loved attending First Nottoway Baptist Church where she was an active member until her health declined.
She is preceded in death by her parents Thurman and Mary Person; her siblings Oliver Person, Eugene “Bud” Person, Doris Robertson, Thurman Person, Harold Person, Robert Person and her husband Fletcher E. Bell.
Annie is survived by her children, Thurman Person (Viola), Valerie Willis (Joe), Rose Gantt (Marcus); her grandchildren Latoya (Reggie), Bryan (Carleen), Candice, Briana (Chris), Latrice; her brother, James Person; her sisters, Pauline Drayton, Marion Jeffers, Mary Harris (Jon), and Shirley Pearmon; thirteen great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Annie always shared love and peace with those around her. She loved her family and shared a special bond with her bonus children, Ruth Bell, Patricia Bell, Ruby Dunifer, Randall Bell (Regina) Shakeema Carrasquillo (Pete), Nephfetia Johnson & Justin Johnson.
Funeral Services Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at First Nottoway Baptist Church, Crewe. Interment church cemetery.
