Obituary for Annie B. Conner
On Friday, February 18, 2011, the life of Annie Bell Conner unfolded the last chapter in the book of life, as she advanced from sweet labor to an everlasting reward. She was born May 1, 1936, daughter of the late James Hardy and Lillian Hardy of Lunenburg, VA. She was married to the late Guy Conner of New York, New York. She had one son Michael Hardy. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of the Mount Gazerine Baptist Church.
She attended A.J. Richardson public school in Blackstone, VA. She left Blackstone at an early age and moved to New York City. During that time she had several careers which included: A Home Health Care Provider, a Childcare Provider, a Personal Assistant, retired from the Veterans Hospital in the Bronx, New York and she also worked for a number of celebrities.
In her spare time she loved to ride and travel. Other than spending a great deal of time with her two beautiful granddaughters Nicole and Haley that she loved dearly, she also loved and enjoyed spending time in Danville with her niece Melissa and her family. Even though she enjoyed all those things her ultimate favorite thing to do was to go to the casinos in Charlestown, Delaware and Atlantic City. She would often say some of the funniest things like: “ I have been here before”, “ I use to come here all the time”, “That was way before your time”, “You’ll never know!”, and to top them all off she would say “slow down, and watch out for the police because they said that they are going to be sitting in every corner today”.
She was preceded in death by her husband Guy Conner. Five sisters, Pearl, Cora, Martha, Marie and Margaret; one brother James (Willie). She leaves to cherish her memory one son Michael Hardy (Ivanov) of Louisa, VA, two grandchildren Nicole Roberts of Blackstone, VA; Haley Hardy of Louisa, VA. Two brothers Floyd Hardy (Barbara) of New York, New York; Robert Hardy of Blackstone, VA (Shirley) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A devoted niece Melissa (Mario) Witherspoon.
