Obituary for Annette Johnson
Today we celebrate the life of Annette Johnson of Blackstone, Virginia who peacefully passed away on September 11, 2020. Annette was born on July 18, 1957 to William Evans and the late Lottie Mae Johnson and Wendell Stewart. At a young age she started living with her great grandparents, Martha Johnson and Nathaniel Epps who treated her as if she was there child.

Annette found her soulmate David McFarland as a teenager. They were together many years until he went to be with the Lord. She did not physically have any children of her own. She helped raise David’s niece and nephew, NaTasha Smalls (Craig) and Wayne McFarland and was nothing short of a mother figure to Dwayne Singleton and Stephaine Oliver.

Annette graduated from Nottoway High School in 1976 and received an Associate Degree at Southside Community College. She took on many jobs in her lifetime but became comfortable working for Reiss Manufacturing as a housekeeper.

Annette was the mother hen of our family and anyone close to her. She made it her business to make sure everyone was taking care of.

Annette was a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys and was known in her town of the love she had for her team. She was also a fan of Los Angeles Lakers. Annette had a passion for fishing. Teaching just about everyone in her family how to do so. In her free time, she enjoyed to play cards and sports polls. She played short centerfield and rightfield with the Blackstone Swingers Softball Team, team manger with the Stacked Deck Softball Team and volunteered as Coach for Blackstone Recreational Softball Team.

Annette was preceded in death by her long time friend, Florence Hardy.

She leaves to cherish her memory to her sisters Alice Johnson and Pam (James) Stokes; brothers, Lewis (Charlene) Johnson, Leonard (Sylinda) Johnson; uncle, William Johnson; aunt, Katherine Epps; devoted niece, Shamel; nieces, Natasha and Brianna; nephews, Damien, D’Andre, Raheem, Wayne, and Durrell; eight great-nieces and nephews; a host of cousins, other relatives and devoted friends, William Bragg, Willie Lawson, Roxanne Edmonds, and Daphane Williams.

A link of our family chain has been broken. Annette will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
