Obituary for Anna Lee Davis
Anna Lee Wilson Davis, daughter of the late Linwood and Inell Boswell Wilson was born March 18, 1934 in Lunenburg County, VA. She departed this life at her home in Blackstone on Saturday, April 12, 2014.
At an early age, she was baptized at New Galilee Baptist Church. She received her formal education in the public schools of Lunenburg.
On January 26, 1952 she married Archie Lee Davis, Sr., and this union was blessed with eight children.
Anna Lee was employed by Levi Strauss. She also worked as a companion.Â
She was well known for her cooking and took pride in her garden. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Anna Lee was a die hard Washington Redskin fan. Most of all she was a pillar in the community with a heart like gold and was loved by all.
In addition to her parents, Anna Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Lee Davis, Sr.; a son Archie Lee Davis, Jr.; two grandsons, Mark Hazelwood and Troy Quarles; and a sister, Helen Gooden.
She leaves to cherish precious memories:Â four daughters, Evelyn Wallace (Robert), Frances Puryear, Lucy Quarles (Alonzo) and Mutrey Ingram, all of Blackstone; three sons, Robert Davis (Tara) of Richmond, Calvin Davis of Richmond and Tom Davis of Blackstone; sisters, Nellie of New Jersey, Gloria, Odessa, Mary (Ellis) of Lunenburg, Joyce of Alberta, Audrey of Woodbridge and Dorothy of North Carolina; brothers, Rufus of Blackstone, Franklin (Martha) of Lunenburg and Charlie of Kenbridge; adopted daughter, Cornice Foster; adopted sons, Calvin Coles, John Gregory, Wilbert McFarland, Anthony Crawley, James Goode and Raymond Washington; her godson, Ira Young; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Services Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 12:00 noon at Shiloh Baptist Church, Blackstone with interment in the Greenview Cemetery.
