Obituary for Andrew J. Oliver, Sr.
Andrew Jackson Oliver, Sr, age 62, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at VCU Health Community Memorial Hospital. He was born on June 18, 1959 in Nottoway County to the late Charles and Mattie Oliver.

Andrew gave his life to the Lord at the age of 13 and was a member of St. Peter’s A.M.E. Zion church in Blackstone. He was a 1979 graduate of Nottoway High School. He married Rachel Flowers on December 25, 1984 in Blackstone.

He worked as a career truck driver and concrete finisher for 20 years with Garrett, Moon and Pool. Andrew lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; spending time with family, chatting with friends, fishing, playing horseshoes and the joy of having a good time.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother John and his sister Carolyn.
He is survived by his four children Andrew Jr., Marc, Tangie and Alexis; granddaughters Xzanariyah and Penellape; three sisters Rosa, Marian and Teresa (Jesse); one aunt, Annie Branch; five nephews Frederick, Derrick, Timothy, Drevon and Jaysen; one niece Tiera; three great nephews Jah’Mir, Messiah (Slick) and Je’Siah (Sly); and one great niece Timaria. Constant friends and confidants, Rachel Oliver and Elijah Hickson; and a host of cousins and friends.

Viewing Thursday, January, 20 and Friday, January 21, 2022 from 1 to 7PM. Funeral Services Saturday, Januray 22, 2022 at 3:00 PM at W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home, Blackstone. Interment Cellar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Blackstone.
