ALMA STEWART LAWRENCE THREATT also known as “Little Girl” was born on May 15, 1935 in the Mannboro Community of Amelia, Virginia to the late Joe and Alma Royal Stewart. Alma was preceded in death by her two sons Waverly Lawrence, Jr. (Mary) and Roy Lee Lawrence (Bertha), and her two brothers, Richard and Robert Stewart.
At an early age, Alma accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, was baptized, and joined the membership of Branches Runn Baptist Church. Throughout the years, she displayed unwavering love for God as she faithfully served Him in the hospitality and usher ministries, while also lending her voice to the church choir. Alma loved Branches Runn, her church of more than eight decades, to such an extent that she and her husband, Pa, created a path from their home to the church, which they walked every Sunday for many years. Alma also loved serving her local community and for 25 years was a member of the Busy Bee Women’s Club.
Alma was educated in Amelia County Public Schools and had a passion for working in her yard. She enjoyed admiring her beautiful rose bushes and keeping her yard to perfection —thanks to her love, “Pa.” Alma also loved to sew and cook; she gained a reputation for her delicious meals that were enjoyed by those near and far. Alma loved her family, and there was never a dull moment at her house which was filled with funny stories, jokes, and laughter. Alma was never shy to share her opinion, yet she always left you with an encouraging word such as “Don’t forget to wear your pantyhose next time I see you.”
Alma was united in Holy Matrimony to William (“Pa”) Threatt, her “honey” for 42 years in which they had many precious and fond memories together. She leaves to cherish her legacy one daughter, Shirley Lawrence Jackson (Norman, Sr.); four grandchildren, Norman Jackson, Jr. (“TJ”) (Tanesha), Derrick Lawrence, Ashley Hewlett (Ricky, Jr.), Tevin Lawrence (Romesia); ten great-grandchildren, Keiontra, Darrik, Darriel, Kalon, Greylyn, Derrick Jr., Brennan, Raelynn, Ryann, Ra’Lani; sisters, Alease Jackson (deceased), Mary Brown (deceased), Myrtle Scott, Sadie Jefferson (Thomas Jr.); brothers-in-law, Lawrence (deceased), Robert,
Thomas, Benjamin, Charles (Hattie), deceased; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Threatt, Helen Robertson (deceased) (Herman - deceased); father-in-law, Norman Threatt (deceased); mother-in-law, Mary Hayes Threatt (deceased); devoted niece and caretaker, Gale Robinson, and a host of loving relatives and friends.
