Obituary for Allen B. Neal
Allen Blackwell Neal was born to the late Willie and Ludelia Neal on June 29, 1934. he was the fourth of five sons. After a long fight with his illness, Allen made a peaceful transition from this life on Sunday, May 24, 2009 at the Veteran Hospital in Washington, DC.
Allen was “Bro” to some family members and to others he was known fondly as “Red”. After graduating high school he enlisted in the Air Force and served four years. He earned diplomas from the National School of Meat Cutting and The Standard Barbering Academy. He enlisted and served four years in the Army. He was honorably discharged from the two branches of service. Allen went to work at Union Station in Washington, DC from where he retired after twenty years of service.
Allen was a caring and very generous person who was loved by so many. He leaves to cherish his memory, one son, Wayne; four grandchildren, Amber, Wayne Jr., Sean and Ashley; one great grandchild; a long time friend, Louise; five sisters, Myrtle Gladys, Kathleen, Carrie and Daisy; three brothers-in-law, Hicks and Joe (devoted and more like brothers than in-laws) and Thomas; three sisters-in-law, Ethel, Myrtle and Pauline; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
Funeral Services Saturday, May 24, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Hawkes Funeral Home Chapel, Blackstone with interment in the Greenview Cemetery, Blackstone.
