Obituary for Alice Mae Christopher
Alice Mae Booth Christopher, aka Pook, entered eternal rest on February 8, 2020. She was born April 26, 1935 to the late Dossie and Bernice Booth. She was the eldest of 6 children. Early on she was introduced to the Lord and what it means to serve.

Alice proved to be an exceptional student and graduated from Luther H. Foster High School in 1952. After school she married her sweetheart Richard Christopher in 1953. They were married for 64 years! From this union they had two sons, Gary and Dennis.

Alice has always put GOD first and family 2nd. She and Richard have taken care of many members of the family and friends. She worked as a teacher’s aide at Ingleside Elementary School and also as a domestic. While caring for her family she attended Vocational school to become a nurses’ aide. She took her education a step further and attended Southside Community Hospital School of Nursing and earned her LPN licensure. She worked at Southside Community Hospital and then went on to work at Piedmont Geriatric Hospital for over 20 years. She retired from Piedmont with a reputation of being a leader and excellent nurse. Alice accomplished all of this while also working the farm with Richard.

Alice has overcome many hurdles in her life related to illness. But she did not let those hurdles stop her from being a devoted Christian, caring wife, hard-working mother, caregiver, and loving grandmother. To those who know her, she was a talented singer, great cook, and a willing servant of the Lord. What she did for others came from a place of love.

She is preceded in death by her husband Richard Christopher, her son Gary Christopher, and her brothers William, James and Joseph Booth. She leaves to cherish her memory her son Dennis; her sister Josephine Forrest; her brother Percy Booth; her daughter-in-law Sandra Christopher; her grandchildren Leslie, Reggie, T’Ana (AJ), Travis (Carrie), and Stanley (Tanicia); and great-grandchildren Teresa, Raven, Tyrek, Taylor, James, Adrian, Victoria, Anaya, Nicholas, Falcon, Trenton, and Hanna. Also, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 12:00 noon at Springhill Baptist Church, Blackstone. Interment church cemetery.

W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home of Blackstone in charge of arrangements.
