Obituary for Alfus "Jack" Henry Hayes, Sr.
On November 15, 2018, Alfus Henry Hayes, Sr. affectionately known as “Jack” to many gained his heavenly wings and went to be with the Lord at St. Francis Medical Center surrounded by his loved ones. Jack was born on July 26, 1944 to Richard Hayes, Sr. and Annie Bell Booker Hayes.
Jack received his education in the Amelia School System and joined the Manassa Hill Baptist Church, Amelia, Virginia at an early age. He retired from Taylor-Ramsey Lumber Yard as a machine operator. He loved joking with friends and would help anybody in any way he could.
He is proceeded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ralph and Richard “Dick”, Jr.
To cherish his memory he leaves his son, Alfus “Bubba” Hayes, Jr. (Lakisha) of Alberta, VA, and daughter, Kandy Freeman (Adam) of Green Bay, VA. Stepsons, James Bell (Lisa), Robert Bell, Mark Bell and stepdaughter Patricia Taylor (Lewis). Grandchildren, Sylvester Elder, Cassandra Hayes, Omar Pearson, Tyke Fisher, Tykeshia Fisher, Nicholas Hayes, Jayla Simms, Earl Simms, Jr., Eshya Simms and one great granddaughter Kalaya Elder. Four sisters, Barbara Hayes and Mary Alice Hayes, both of Petersburg, Annie Goodson (Tim) of Blackstone, and Louise Hayes (Augusta, GA). Host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, step-grandchildren, and devoted friends.
