Alfred Ellis Bridgeforth, son of the late Robert Clarence and Mable Clarke Bridgeforth was born October 7, 1937 in Lunenburg County, VA. On Monday, January 7, 2008, Alfred’s earthly life ended and his eternal life began.
Alfred accepted Christ and joined the Rosebud Baptist Church of Dundas, VA. He was educated in the public schools of Lunenburg County, VA. Upon his graduation, he joined the U.S. Army and received an honorable discharge.
On February 21, 1967, Alfred was united in holy matrimony to Ophelia Fowlkes who preceded him in death on Januray 29, 1996.
Alfred joined the First Nottoway Baptist Church where he served as a trustee. He worked for the Levi Strauss Company, L&M Truck Company and Piedmont Geriatric Hospital from which he retired after twenty years of service.
Alfred will long be remembered for his sense of humor and his caring and generous spirit.
Alfred was preceded in death by his oldest brother Clarence one August 26, 1988. He leaves to cherish his memory: a daughter, Joy C. Bridgeforth of Crewe, VA; two brothers, Thomas Bridgeforth of Lanham, MD and Leonard Bridgeforth (Vanessa) of Laurel, MD; two sisters, Elsie Sydnor (Edwin) of Kenbridge, VA and Alma Sydnor (Carl) of Lanham, MD; three sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; an aunt; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will recieve friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 12, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. from First Nottoway Baptist Church, Crewe with interment in the church cemetery.W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
