Obituary for Agnes A Bates
MRS. AGNES A. BATES died Monday, March 5, 2012 in Heritage Hall Healthcare, Blackstone, VA. Mrs. Bates, a native of Lunenburg County was born October 28, 1921 to the late Mr. Luther and Gertrude Irby Maddux.

She attended public school in Lunenburg and Nottoway counties. She joined Mt. Gazerine at an early age and continued to worship at both Mt. Gazerine and Shiloh until her health began to decline.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Bates, Sr., two sisters and five brothers.

Mrs. Bates is survived by one daughter, Joan; two sons, Ronald (Mattie) and John, Jr. (Frankie); three granddaughters; three great grandchildren; three step grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; two step great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Claiborn and Ashur; three sisters-in law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Services Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. at Mt. Gazerine Baptist Church, Blackstone with interment in the Greenview Cemetery, Blackstone.
