Gently and peacefully our family circle was broken on January 25, 2010. The sweet spirit of our loving mother and grandmother to join the Saviour in a home not built with hands, but whose maker and builder is God. Ruth B. Ford was the only child born to the late Arealious and Estelle Barley, on January 1, 1927 in Amelia, Virginia.
Ruth attended school in Amelia, Virginia. At an early age she joined the Chester Grove Baptist Church. After marriage, she became a member of Flower Hill Baptist Church where she served faithfully as a member of the Senior Choir. She enjoyed traveling and singing in various churches with her family group, The Heavenly Supremes.
Ruth was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Ossie Ford. To their union, God blessed them with seven children. Two children, Anna and Lois, along with a grandson that she raised as her own, Toney, preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memory three sons: Spencer L. Ford, Sr., (Elvira) of Burkeville, Donald Ford of Richmond, and Robert L. Ford, Sr. (Susan) of Powhatan; two daughters: Lucille (Joe, Jr.) Washington of Powhatan and Hazel (Reginald, Sr.) Edwards of Highland Springs; two grandchildren; Harvey Simms (Valerie) and Crystal Cosby who she raised at the passing of their mother and a cousin, Jesse Hutchings to whom she opened her home; 20 devoted grandchildren, 44 loving great grandchildren and four special great great grandchildren a host of other relatives and friends among them are Martha Gray, Gertrude Lipscomb and Almega Macklin.
Funeral Services Friday, January 29, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Flower Hill Baptist Church, Amelia with interment in the church cemetery.

Rejoice in the Lord and be of good courage. We are praying for each of you that God will continue to guide you and be with you during your time of bereavement. Sister Ford is now ready for her rest: Isaiah 66 and 1 says: Thus saith the Lord, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest? Sis Lucille and family, we say to you all, "Hang on In There". God will provide all you need to see you through.
With Love and Prayers,
Reverend Lee Watkins, Jr. and family
