Obituary for Wesley M. Oliver, Sr.
Wesley McKinley Oliver, Sr., the baby of nine was born to the late Henry and Rosa Oliver of Crewe, VA.

He accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Union Baptist Church. Wesley graduated from Luther H. Foster High School on June 9, 1969.

In 1976 he married his childhood friend and girlfriend, Shirley Jennings and from this union three sons were born.
He took computer programming courses at Lear Siegler, Inc. He joined the United States Airforce on October 28, 1970. In August of 1972 he was promoted to Staff Sergeant at McGuire AFB in New Jersey. Wesley served active duty four years, attended Southside Virginia Community College. He retired from the Department of Defense as a Material Handler Supervisor on January 3, 2016. After retiring he started his second career, which was to fish and raise his cows. Although Wesley loved to talk about his days traveling while in the military, his love was Fort Pickett.

Wesley’s great love for business made him the perfect person to work with in getting a business started, whether it was family or friends. He became partners in logging, trucking, carpentry, raising pigs, raising cattle, and even providing lawn services. Wesley donated a great deal of his time to the VFW, to the church as a carpenter and to the lodge in efforts to raise money for scholarships.

He leaves to cherish his fond memories his wife, Shirley; three sons, Wesley Jr. (Krystal), Ryan (Brandy) and Dion (Candice); one special son Vanburn (Abranda) Donavan; grandchildren, Darian, Ryan Jr., Kaiden, Lashaya, Alyssa, Arielle and McKenzie; others who loved him as Poppa, CJ, Jaylan, Trey, and Missy; two sisters, Martha Eppes and Bernice Lewis; his father-in-law, Lee Jennings; two special nieces who he help raised like his own children, Vonnie (Kevin) and Paula; his other nieces are Cheri, Raena, Janae and LaQuanda; his nephews, Larry, Terrance, Brandon and DaQuan; brothers-in-law, Larry (Diane), Ronald (Gwen), Arnold (Brenda); and a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
