Obituary for Wesley C. Gregory
Mr. Wesley Coleman Gregory, Sr. entered eternal rest at his home in Blackstone, VA on Thursday, April 13, 2017. Son of the late Charlie and Daisy Gregory, he was born on May 5, 1928 in Drakes Branch, VA. Mr. Gregory was preceded in death by his parents, nine brothers and four sisters.
Mr. Gregory attended school in Charlotte County. He became a member of Jones’ RZUA Church in Blackstone at an early age. While attending Jones’ Church, he was ordained as a Deacon. He later attended Mount Zion RZUA Church in Blackstone.
Mr. Gregory married Annie Cook in October 1952 and from that union seven children were born. He was a very loving and quiet man who worked hard to provide for his family. He retired from Georgia Pacific after twenty-three years of dedicated service.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Annie Gregory; seven devoted children, Cora Robertson (Roy) of Richmond, VA, Hilda Gregory of Chesterfield, VA, Wesley Gregory, Jr. of Richmond, VA, Darlene Crawley (Troy) of Dinwiddie, VA, Alfreda Gregory of Durham, NC, Nicholas Gregory of Blackstone, VA and Melissa Gregory of Richmond, VA; two loving grandchildren, Charia Robertson (Rashad Williams) and Tyree Crawley; two great grandchildren, Nevaya Williams and Rashad Williams, Jr.; one sister, Rose Ellen Davis of Richmond, VA; four sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Viewing will be Thursday, April 20 from 10am until 8pm.
Funeral Services Friday, April 21, 2017 at 12:00 Noon at W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Blackstone. Interment Greenview Cemetery.
