Obituary for Thelma N. Berkley
On July 4, 2017 our mother Thelma Norris Berkley departed this life from her family at Centra Southside Community Hospital in Farmville, VA to be reunited with her father and mother, Fredrick and Mary Carter Lewis.
Thelma attended Luther H. Foster School. She was known as a woman of many trades. She accepted Christ at an early age. Thelma enjoyed spending time with all her grandkids, doing crossword puzzles and fussing with Puddin.
She was preceded in death by a brother, James Lewis and a sister, Helen Lewis.
Thelma leaves to cherish her memory; her husband of fifty-seven years, Thaddus Lee Berkley; children, Catherine Smith (Rodney), Vanessa Street (Clifford), Thaddus Jennings, Fred Berkley, Carolyn Berkley, Lashawn Anderson (Gerald) and Sharon Berkley (Demond Rux); a grandson she raised as her own, Dequan Berkley; a special friend she called her daughter, Alice Neathery; one sister, Christine Rowe; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty-one great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Family will receive friends Saturday, July 8th, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral Services Sunday, July 9, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. at W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Blackstone. Interment Jackson Cemetery, Crewe.
