Obituary for Rogers A. Kirby
Rogers A. Kirby, a native of Halifax County, was born on April 12, 1927 to Phillip and Mattie Kirby. He departed this life on Tuesday, May 22, 2018.
He attended Halifax County Schools. Later he joined the United States Army and after receiving an Honorable Discharge, he married Addie Hogue and moved to Nottoway County.
Rogers was employed as an aide at Piedmont State Hospital for forty-two years.
Rogers was preceded in death by a daughter, Rosa Fowlkes, but leaves to cherish his memories his loving family: a loving wife of seventy-one beautiful years, Addie Kirby; sons, Walter Kirby, Charlie Kirby, Roy Kirby, Calvin Kirby, Carl Kirby, Mark Kirby; daughters, Yevette Simmons, Darlene Simmons; brothers, Luther Kirby and Joseph Kirby; sisters, Cora Watkins, Martha Thompson, Lucille Thornton, Ella Edmunds, Pearl Kirby, Bertha Williams, Thelma Wharton and Mattie Robinson; a host of grand, and great grandchildren, other relatives and family.
Funeral Services Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Blackstone.
Interment Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia.
