Obituary for Mother Virginia Scott
On July 18th at 8:30 p.m., God dispatched his angels to room 12 on the 3rd floor at St. Francis Hospital in Richmond, VA to bring his daughter Mother Virginia Beatrice Archer Scott home. Virginia, daughter of the late Clara Archer and Deacon Sidney E. Epps, was born June 23, 1937. She was reared by her grandparents, Nettie and Johnnie Archer, both of whom preceded her in death.

Virginia attended Promise Land School and Russell Grove. At the tender age of nine, she accepted the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, was baptized by Reverend Isaiah Wilkerson and joined the Promise Land Baptist Church.

Virginia was a dedicated member for 71 years. When she was only thirteen she joined the Senior Choir and was still a present member. She was former vice president and president of the senior Choir, former president and co-chair of the pulpit aide, former member of the Busy Bee, Women’s Ministry, Constitution Committee, Willing Workers and chairperson of the Kitchen Committee.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Moses Scott Sr,; son Alponso Scott; sister Ruth Cummings; brother Irvin Epps; grandson “Toby”; brother-uncles, James, Deacon, Mason, Linwood, Jesse, Lloyd and George Archer; sister-aunts, Ophelia Epps and Ella Archer

She is survived by her loving and devoted children, Clara J. Chalkley, Moses Scott, Jr. of Amelia, VA, Clifton (Dorothy) Scott of Dinwiddie, VA, Wilbert Scott of Richmond, VA; step-son, Kenneth Royal of Amelia, VA; sisters Margaret (Arnold) Forte of Oxon Hill, MD, Mildred Lockheart (Henry) of Las Vegas, NE, Mary Ann (Lawrence) Hansboro of Powhatan, VA and Elwood (Rosa) Epps of Amelia, VA; one daughter-in-law Brenda Jasper Scott of Amelia, VA; sister-aunts Dora Epps of New Jersey, Fannie McBroom of North Carolina, Mary Jeter and sister-cousin and sister-in-law Doris Epps of Amelia, VA; two aunts Lena Mae Archer and Mammie Archer of Amelia, VA; two sisters-in-law, Stella Lupas of California and Nell Scott Sylte of Richmond, VA; twelve grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; three devoted cousins, Dalhia Holman, Reverend James Epps and Minor Bland; one devoted friend, Gilda Johnson Scott; devoted staff and chaplain Jeffery Walton at St. Francis Hospital; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Services Monday, July 24, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at Promise Land Baptist Church, Amelia with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
