Obituary for Morris O. Bland, Jr.
Morris Owen Bland, Jr., son of the late Reverend Morris and Idella Bland, was born November 16, 1946. He departed this life on Sunday, September 16, 2018. He was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Yancey; two sisters, Eva Bland and Cora Bland Ghee; one brother, Walter Bland.
Morris attended school in Nottoway County and graduated from Luther H. Foster High School. At an early age he was baptized and joined Mt. Zion RZUA Church in Blackstone, VA. Morris was employed by Dooley’s Construction.
Morris leaves to cherish his memory: three daughters, Tammie (Lucas) Warren, Ellen Crawley and Yolanda Crawley; two sons, Dedrick Crawley and Morris Wilson; stepson Richard Wilson; thirteen grandchildren, Shaleeka (Nico) Robinson, Krystal Bagley, Alanna Mallory; Debrika Crawley, Antoine Crawley, TyShawn Crawley, Destiny Crawley, Amiya Crawley, TaLeah Crawley, Dekyi Crawley, Michael Yancey, Jr., MyKwan Yancey and Maeveya Yancey; two great grandchildren, Kamari Bagley and Deontre Smith; six sisters, Virginia (Jesse) Tucker, Dorothy (Kenneth) Johnson, Carrie Hobbs, Ella Bland, Josephine (George) Baskerville and Gloria Bland; a special aunt, Sarah Coleman; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home, Blackstone. Interment Greenview Cemetery, Blackstone.
