Obituary for Lee Roy Cousins
Mr. Lee Roy Cousins departed this life unexpectedly on September 3nd 2017 at his residence in Blackstone.
He was born in Dinwiddie County on May 21, 1932 to the late Haywood and Sarah Cousins. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ann O. Cousins; one sister, Bernice Macklin; two brothers, Haywood Jr. and Eugene Cousins.
Lee Roy joined Shiloh Baptist Church in Dinwiddie at an early age. He attended Dinwiddie county schools and later attended Virginia State University where he graduated in 1962. He served in the United States Army and received an Honorable Discharge in 1954. Lee Roy worked at Levi-Strauss and retired from Mercury Cleaners in Blackstone.
He leaves to cherish his memories his daughters Lenora (Randell) Hardy of Chesterfield VA, Patricia (Reginald) Snead of Manakin-Sabot VA, Janice (Michael) Gilpin of Glen Allen VA; six grandchildren Nicolas Hardy, Christopher Hardy, Savana Hardy (Devin) Gay, Jonathan Snead, Kimberly Gilpin, Marcus Gilpin; one great granddaughter Korra Gay; one brother, Edward (Lena) Cousins of Blackstone; one half-brother Christopher Cousins of Augusta Georgia; three sisters-in-law, Odessa Cousins of Chesterfield, Martha (John) Wilson and Evelyn (William) Bolling of Blackstone; and three brothers-in-law, Thomas Oliver (Virginia) and John Oliver of Blackstone, and Theodore Macklin of Maywood, ILL; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 12:00 noon at Shiloh Dinwiddie Baptist Church, Blackstone. Interment church cemetery.
