Obituary for Lawrence Milton Green, Sr.
Lawrence Milton Green Sr. passed away suddenly September 15, 2017 at the age of 57. Lawrence was born May 16, 1960 to his late parents, Clarence Sr. and Marjorie Green.

Lawrence lived and worked in Richmond much of his life. A graduate of George Wythe High School, he briefly moved to Tennessee where he attended and graduated from Nashville Auto Diesel College. After returning to Richmond, he spent several years as part owner, driver and mechanic for the family business C.W. Green General Hauling.

After the close of that venture Lawrence took up his wrenches and pursued his true passion, becoming a very successful diesel mechanic. His work was more than a job, he was paid to do what he loved.

He was first and foremost a family man. Lawrence enjoyed spending time with his family, and was a devoted son, father, uncle, brother, mentor, and friend. A big bear of a man, his size and scowl were very intimidating, but, once you got to know him you had a friend for life. He was a humble, kind man who enjoyed a good laugh. Always a kid at heart, if you asked his age he’d proudly say, “FIVE”!

Lawrence loved a good movie (which he would watch over and over again), a cold Pepsi, Lay’s sour cream and onion chips (if they weren’t broken), and chocolate. He could burn on the grill and made the best sloppy joes.

Lawrence was deeply loved by both his immediate and extended family. He is survived by his son, Lawrence Jr., brother Clarence Jr., sisters Grace Massenburg and Ruth Green, brother-in-law, Sean Massenburg, nieces Chanell Smith and husband David; and Cherelle Massenburg and great nephew Josiah Smith.
He is further survived by his companion Rachel Banks and accepted her family as his own including her mother Mary Lively, sons Tahlik, Steven, and Kevin, granddaughters Neveah, Atiyana, and August.
Additionally, he leaves to cherish his memory his “adopted daughters” Rachel Holliday and Crystal Wright, and a host of relatives and friends.

Viewing will be held Friday, September 22, 2017 from 6pm until 8pm at Swansboro Baptist Church, 3801 Midlothian Turnpike, Richmond, VA 23224. where services will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 12:00 pm. Interment Maury and Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home of Blackstone in charge of arrangements.
