Obituary for Isaiah Smith
Isaiah Smith, “Zeke”, of Chesterfield, VA passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 13, 2016. He was born in Amelia County, VA on November 16, 1951 to the late Deacon Freddie D. Smith and Deaconess Susan C. Smith. Isaiah joined Liberty Baptist Church at an early age and was very active in Sunday School, the choir, and other ministries. After moving with his family to Richmond/Chesterfield, while maintaining his membership at Liberty Baptist, he also became a member of Morning Star Baptist Church and enjoyed worshiping with New Birth Fellowship Ministries. He was educated in Amelia County Public Schools, graduating in 1970 and attended Virginia State University.

Isaiah’s longest working career was with Westvaco Corporation, which afforded him memorable opportunities for travel both here and abroad.

He loved hunting with his buddy Graham Johnson and others, as well as fishing with friends and his daughter.

He leaves to cherish his memories, a devoted wife of 44 years, Bercenia Gibson Smith, one son, Kevin Isaiah Smith, and one daughter, Lisa Young and her husband Michael. He absolutely adored his three granddaughters, Nia, Nayana and Kenedy and goddaughter Jessica Gibson. He has four sisters, Mocile Trotter, Nannie Parham (Arnold), Susan Sanders (Clarence), and Vivian Thomas (Alan) and is predeceased by one brother, Freddie Smith. Isaiah loved and greatly appreciated the love and support he received from his mother-in-law, Vera R. Gibson and three brothers-in-law, Lyndon Gibson (Ardetta), Reginald Gibson (Freda), Douglas Gibson (Clarice) and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, including his special friend Barbara Moore.
