Obituary for Hazel S. White
She was a devoted wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin and friend.

She accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Springhill Baptist Church in Blackstone, Virginia and became an active member. Hazel was educated in the Nottoway County school system, graduating from Luther H. Foster High School in 1951.

She joined Shiloh Baptist Church after marrying Deacon James R. White, who preceded her in death. They were married for 49 years and from this union two children were born, Patricia “Triciann” and James “Jimmy”.

Pursuing her interest in the medical field, she worked at Piedmont State Hospital and graduated cum laude at Southside Virginia Community College in Human Services. She retired from Piedmont State Hospital on January 29th, 1992 with thirty (30) years of service.

She served on the following auxiliaries and clubs: President of the Shiloh Baptist Church Pastors Aid, Deaconess Board, Hospitality Ministry, Senior Choir, and member of the Luther H. Foster Alumni.

Hazel loved to cook, dance, read, design floral arrangements, sing in the choir, and collect various angels and crosses.

She leaves to cherish her memory: a devoted daughter, Patricia “Triciann” Moore (James); one son, James “Jimmy” White Jr.; a devoted daughter-in-law, Christie E. White; granddaughters, Jelita Fitzgerald Booker (Freddie), Patrice White, Alexis Stokes, and Jazmin Stokes; grandsons, James Reginald “Reggie” White, William Johnson, and Donald Moore; great grandsons, J’Are Booker, J’Cion Booker; great granddaughters, Teosha Moore, Kyra White, E’Moni Ellis and Armani Stokes; godchildren, Tony Johnson, Nancy Doswell and Sharon Rowe; cousins, George Smith of Lunenburg, Ann Jones of Blackstone, Nellie James of Roxboro, NC, David Oliver of Chase City, VA, Gordon Oliver of Chesterfield, VA, Irvin Oliver of Danville, VA, Milton Oliver of Huntsville, AL, Dudley Young of Baltimore, MD, Anne Smith of Charlottesville, VA and Jessie Mosley of Saxe, VA; sisters-in-law, Shirley Watkins, Nora White, Sammie White, Margarette “Lorraine” White-Handford and Mary Elizabeth Porter; brother-in-law, William “Dick” White; a host of other nieces, nephews, and friends to include, Arlene Carroll, Christine “Teen” Rowe, Virginia Tillery, Zipporiah “Zippy” Dyson, Cleola Vaughan, Beverly Clay, Evelyn Stokes, Sadie Epes, Constance Wynn, Gracie Rhodes, Susie Crawley, Annie Pearl Coleman and Louise Craig.

Funeral Services Friday, July 8, 2016 at Shiloh Baptist Church, Blackstone, VA. Interment Greenview Cemetery, Blackstone
