Obituary for George L. Reed
Early Monday morning on September 11, 2017 our Lord summoned His angel to the Beaufont Health and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond, VA to escort our loved one George Lee Reed to his heavenly home.

George, son of the late Deacon Paul and Faye Elizabeth Reed McGhee was born on January 12, 1944 in Amelia, VA.

He was educated in the Amelia County public schools. Realizing that he need a Savior he joined the Little Bethel Baptist Church at an early age under the pastorship of the late Reverend Floyd Montague. After his marriage to the late Mamie Royal Reed, he moved his membership to the Manassa Hill Baptist Church where her serves faithfully until his health failed. During his tenure at Manass Hill, he was a member of the Senior Choir, Men’s Chorus and Usher Board. He also sung with the family group founded by his wife and other members, namely, “The Triple ‘R’ Gospel Singers”. His favorite hymn was “There’s A Bright Side Somewhere”. He never missed an opportunity to sing that hymn.

He was employed by various work forces, the English Construction, Bush-Winston and Pittman and Pace before his retirement in 1986.

On July 6, 1968, he united in Holy Matrimony to Mamie Reed, who preceded him in death. This union was blessed with one daughter, Carol Reed.

George loved listening to Coffee-Chat.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul Jr., Robert and John and a sister Mildred Archer.
