Obituary for Earl W. Christopher
Earl Wesley Christopher, 82 died December 24, 2023 at the Woodland Home and Rehab Center in Farmville, VA. Earl was born May 4, 1941 to the late John Jasper (Jack) and Mary Etta Christopher in Nottoway County, VA. His family was displaced from the camp area when he and his twin sister Elaine were nine months old, and the family settled in Burkeville, VA.
Earl graduated from Nottoway Public School and also served in the U.S. Army. Most of his career he worked as a truck driver. Earl was also a caregiver for his mother, Grandma Mary until her death.
Earl was baptized at a young age at Springhill Baptist church, but later moved his membership to Gravel Hill Baptist Church. There he served on the Kitchen Ministry and the Men’s Choir. Earl loved to tell tall tales and pull up to any table to indulge in a good meal.
Earl is preceded in death by his parents Jack and Mary; his brothers, Johnny, Benjamin, Richard, Lawrence and Joseph; his sisters, Margaret, Cora, Sallie, Florence and Helen.
He is survived by his twin sister, Mary Elaine Gerald; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Viewing Wednesday, January 3, 2024 from 12 to 7PM at the funeral home
Memorial Service Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 11:00AM at Gravel Hill Baptist Church, 7021 S. Genito Rd., Jetersville, VA 23083.
Interment private.
